ICYMI Monday: We’ll Drink To That
This is a regular feature here on the Jibe Blog, in which we uncover some of the best recruitment and technology stories from the previous week you may have missed. But first, we take a little trip in the wayback machine.
Combing through the pages of history to come up with the hook for these posts can get a little depressing sometimes. History is marked primarily by war, disasters and just downright terrible news. But not today. On this day in 1933 the 21st amendment went into effect, officially repealing prohibition, just in time for the holidays. And oh the celebration must have been epic. In that spirit, we’d like to raise our glasses today in celebration of a great 2014 and anticipation of an even better 2015. The recruiting world is in the middle of a landmark transformation that we’re proud to be in the thick of, working with our awesome clients to help them achieve better results through the use of analytics, mobile recruiting and more.
So today we raise our glasses to our customers, and to everyone striving to transform talent acquisition. That includes the stable of industry voices we often include in this weekly round-up. They keep the conversation going, shine a light on important issues, and keep us all on our toes. So party like it’s 1933 today as you dive into this week’s news. Cheers!
- Will HR Lose the Battle Over Analytics?
We’ll start this week with Karen O’Leonard from Bersin, who warns about the danger of HR losing control over management of its’ data if it doesn’t start moving faster to adapt and adopt to new realities of data-driven business as other functions. It’s a theme we’ve explored often here on the Jibe blog, and Karen provides some useful steps to get started. (For more tips, you can download the Jibe Executive Brief on getting started with recruitment analytics.)
- Cell Counts: Why Mobile Recruiting Matters for Candidate Experience
Once again, Matt Charney from Recruiting Daily makes our weekly round-up with his post on the necessity of mobile recruiting when working to improve the candidate experience. We dug into this topic and Matt’s post a bit deeper last week here because it’s an important conversation to be having. Simply put, you can’t improve the candidate experience without a full mobile recruiting solution in place. The two go hand in hand.
- The Technology Choices That HR Needs to Face Up To
We’ve featured Janine Milne from Diginomica in our round-up before, and she makes it again with this important piece on the challenges associated with HR’s move to the cloud. She uses findings from PwC’s annual HR Tech Survey and helps to establish a path for smart migration to the cloud.
- When Today’s Tech Themes Become Everyday Terms
And lastly, we’ve got a quick hit from David Creelman on TLNT revisiting the technology themes that were all the rage a year ago to see how far we’ve come. Not surprisingly, the four themes — mobile, social, cloud and analytics — have only become stronger over the past year, so much so that they can’t be considered trending themes anymore but rather an integral part of HR’s daily lives.
That wraps up this week’s round-up. With the holidays nearly upon us, ICYMI is taking a few weeks off but will be back in the new year with fresh news. Until then, Happy Holidays to everyone!
