ICYMI Monday: It’s A Jimi Thing

ICYMI Monday: It’s A Jimi Thing

Mike Roberts

This is a regular weekly feature here on the Jibe Blog, in which we uncover some of the best recruitment and technology stories from the previous week you may have missed. But first, we take a little trip in the wayback machine.

This week’s trip back in time is almost too easy. On this day in 1967, The Jimi Hendrix Experience released their debut and landmark album, “Are You Experienced.” We’ve had some fun with Jimi and his merry band of psychedelic pioneers here on the blog before, but we would be remiss not to mark this important day in music history seeing how it’s all about the experience. I’m pretty sure Jimi wasn’t singing about the candidate experience in that breakthrough single, but we’re going to run with it anyway. Improving the candidate experience underpins everything we build and do here at Jibe, so it’s top-of-mind for us every day.

Just last week, we sponsored a webinar all about candidate experience featuring the Talent Board’s Elaine Orler and Pepsi’s Chris Hoyt and the discussion, as one might expect, was fantastic. If you missed it, you can check out the archived version here. Now, how about we shred into this week’s articles?

  • An Exercise in Trendspotting
Is it really time to start preparing for HR Tech already? Well, if you’re Steve Boese, it’s been that time for months now. In this piece from HR Executive, Steve sifts through the multitude of speaking proposals he’s received (including our own) to identify which trends are bubbling to the top in terms of HR and recruiting technology. Take a look, and then book your trip to Vegas to learn more. As always, it should be a great show.
  • Special Report: E-Recruiting Dead and Alive
Workforce Executive Editor Max Mihelich takes the long view on how technology has changed the recruiting game, and the job of the recruiter, over the past 20 years. Some good stuff in here, including the use of metrics, deep sourcing tools to attract passive candidates, and of course, social and mobile’s impact.
  • Mobile Recruiting Rears Up
Once again, John Sumser knocks it out of the park on HR Examiner. In this piece, he makes it very clear that the emergence of mobile in recruiting is not news. We’re already living in the “mobile promised land,” but are still struggling to implement a seamless, consistent, end-to-end recruiting process for all stakeholders. Ahhhh, but we’re close. So close. (Note to self: Give John an updated demo of our solutions.)
  • Mobile Is Not Just a Strategy, It’s a Lifestyle
Our friends over at Blogging4Jobs are kicking off another theme week, this time all about mobile recruiting. This piece by Jessica Miller-Merrell sets the stage nicely and focuses on just how ubiquitous mobile has become in our lives, recruiting included. Check out the site through the week for more quality content from some of the industry’s most thoughtful thought leaders.
Sticking to that mobile theme, we’re going to wrap up with a reminder that Jibe will be participating in a Glassdoor webinar this week, all about how to recruit millenials. Call me crazy, but I have a feeling mobile may be part of that equation. Until next week, channel that inner Voodoo Chile and keep up that experience.

If you come across something you think deserves some extra attention during the week, leave a note in the comments or hunt us down on Twitter @Jibe.
